A short story

I never forget a man who is our math teacher in my high school in my life.
He always looked serious in our class. Besides, he always put off our break time and gave us a lot of difficult to solver on our self-study class. We always laugh his pronunciation in the class. So many students dislike him. I remembered the situation when he gave us the first class, he told us his name and his goal is do his best to finish his life.
He treated students who had high mark is very nice, but as a kill to students who had low mark. He checked our homework every day, if we weren’t finish it, we must had gone his office to finish it. Besides, he could give us a test. He always let us to solve problem on the board. We are afraid him very much, as if we saw the monster. I also remembered once I went to his office at lunch time. He didn’t eat anything and worked all the time. After I finished his questions, he just boiled some noodles. He ate the noodles without any vegetables just used some seasoning. I feet apologized to him, but I didn’t say any words to him for my shy. His cause is very great; many teachers from different place often went our class to listen his cause. So we had a great mark in our school, our school is the best high school in my hometown.

But past two years, when we started a new semester, our head teacher told us he had terminal stage of cancer. When I heard the information, my tears were fall down. We had a new math teacher, but we found his advantage when he wasn’t here. We had a long time no see him in school. Then we organized a group to see him, we bought many fruit to him. When we saw his appearance, we all had the tears. His face was so pale and rag that we can see the bone in his face. He seems hard to sit, because he hadn’t enough power to sit. So he only lies in the bed. After a month, he left the world forever. He just had a little girl who didn’t understand what is dead. His wife was very broken heart, she is a strong woman, and she alone brought up her girl. She just cried once in his husband’s funeral. This is my teacher’s story, he just a good teacher and didn’t earn any wealth in his life, but he gave much spiritual wealthy to his students and his family. I never forget him ……..

Tommy’s copy paper

Tommy’s copy paper

A gray sweater hung limply on Tommy's empty desk, a reminder of the dejected boy who had just followed his classmates from our third-grade room. Soon Tommy's parents, who had recently separated, would arrive for a conference on his failing schoolwork and disruptive behavior. Neither parent knew that I had summoned the other.

Tommy, an only child, had always been happy, cooperative and an excellent student. How could I convince his father and mother that his recent failing grades represented a broken-hearted child's reaction to his adored parents' separation and impending divorce.

Tommy's mother entered and took one of the chairs I had placed near my desk. Soon the father arrived. Good! At least they were concerned enough to be prompt. A look of surprise and irritation passed between them, and then they pointedly ignored each other.

As I gave a detailed account of Tommy's behavior and schoolwork, I prayed for the right words to bring these two together, to help them see what they were doing to their son. But somehow the words wouldn't come. Perhaps if they saw one of his smudged, carelessly done papers.

I found a crumpled tear-stained sheet stuffed in the back of his desk, an English paper. Writing covered both sides-not the assignment, but a single sentence scribbled over and over.

Silently I smoothed it out and gave it to Tommy's mother. She read it and then without a word handed it to her husband. He frowned. Then his face softened. He studied the scrawled words for what seemed an eternity.

At last he folded the paper carefully, placed it in his pocket, and reached for his wife's outstretched hand. She wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled up at him. My own eyes were brimming, but neither seemed to notice. He helped her with her coat and they left together.

In a way I could not fully understand I got the words to reunite that family. I was guided to the sheet of yellow copy paper covered with the anguished outpouring of a small boy's troubled heart. The words, "Dear Mom...Dear Daddy... I love you...I love you... I love you."

An Ingenious Love Letter

An Ingenious Love Letter

There once lived a lad who was deeply in love with a girl, but disliked by the girl‘s father, who didn’t want to see any further development of their love. The lad was eager to write to the girl, yet he was quite sure that the father would read it first. So he wrote such a letter to the girl:

My love for you I once expressed

no longer lasts, instead, my distaste for you

Is growing with each passing day. Next time I see you,

I even won‘t like that look yours.

I‘ll do nothing but

Look away from you. You can never expect I‘ll

Marry you. The last chat we had

Was so dull and dry that you shouldn‘t think it

Made me eager to see you again.

If we get married, I firmly believe I’ll

live a hard life, I can never

live happily with you, I’ll devote myself

But not

To you. No one else is more

Harsh and selfish and least

Solicitous and considerate than you.

I sincerely want to let you know

What I said is true. Please do me a favor by

Ending our relations and refrain from

Writing me a reply. Your letter is always full of

Things which displease me. You have no

Sincere care for me. So long! Please believe

I don‘t love you any longer. Don’t think

I still have a love of you!

Having read the letter, the father felt relieved and gave it to his daughter with a light heart.

The girl also felt quite pleased after she read it carefully, her lad still had a deep love for her.

Do you know why? In fact, she felt very sad when she read the letter for the first time. But she read it for a few more times and , at last, she found the key – only every other line should be read, that is the first line, the third, the fifth … and so on to the end.

A glass of milk

A glass of milk

One day, a poor boy who was trying to pay his way through school by selling goods door to door found that he only had one dime left. He was hungry so he decided to beg for a meal at the next house.

However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, “How much do I owe you?”

“You don’t owe me anything,” she replied. “Mother has taught me never to accept pay for a kindness.” He said, “Then I thank you from the bottom of my heart.” As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but it also increased his faith in God and the human race. He was about to give up and quit before this point.

Years later the young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where specialists can be called in to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly, now famous was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately, he rose and went down through the hospital hall into her room.

Dressed in his doctor’s gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room and determined to do his best to save her life. From that day on, he gave special attention to her case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it and then wrote something on the side. The bill was sent to her room. She was afraid to open it because she was positive that it would take the rest of her life to pay it off. Finally she looked, and the note on the side of the bill caught her attention. She read these words...

“Paid in full with a glass of milk.”

(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as she prayed silently: “Thank You, God. Your love has spread through human hearts and hands.”

The day that you see me old

The day that you see me old

Dear son:

The day that you see me old and I am already not, have patience and try to understand me. If I get dirty when eating, if I can not dress, have patience. Remember the hours I spent teaching it to you.

If, when I speak to you, I repeat the same things thousand and one times, do not interrupt me, listen to me. When you were small, I had to read to you thousand and one times the same story until you get to sleep. When I do not want to have a shower, neither shame me nor scold me. Remember when I had to chase you with thousand excuses I invented, in order that you wanted to bath.

When you see my ignorance on new technologies, give me the necessary time and not look at me with your mocking smile. I taught you how to do so many things: to eat good, to dress well, to confront life.

When at some moment I lose the memory or the thread of our conversation, let me have the necessary time to remember, and if I cannot do it, do not become nervous, as the most important thing is not my conversation but surely to be with you and to have you listening to me. If ever I do not want to eat, do not force me. I know well when I need to and when not.

When my tired legs do not allow me walk, give me your hand the same way I did when you gave your first steps. And when someday I say to you that I do not want to live any more, and that I want to die, do not get angry, some day you will understand. Try to understand that my age is not lived but survived.

Some day you will discover that, despite my mistakes, I always wanted the best thing for you and that I tried to prepare the way for you. You must not feel sad, angry or impotent for seeing me near you. You must be next to me, try to understand me and to help me as I did it when you started living.

Help me to walk, help me to end my way with love and patience. I will pay you by a smile and by the immense love I have had always for you.

I love you son.

Your father
